I've used this sunscreen for a few years now, and here are my thoughts. Note, I am an early 30's man with fair caucasian skin.1) This sunscreen provides full-spectrum coverage, both UVA and UVB protection. It's a bit in-depth to go into here, but needless to say, this is very important for the health and wellbeing of your skin in the long run. 2) Unlike most mass-market drugstore sunscreens, this is a physical sunscreen. That means it relies on titanium dioxide and zinc oxide to physically reflect damaging rays. This compares to the chemical sunscreens (avobenzone) found in most full-spectrum drugstore sunscreens which absorb the rays. 3) I tend to be highly allergic to chemical sunscreens. 4) Most physical sunscreens are glopy, white and poorly formulated. Put to the test at a four-day, outdoor swim meet in Mesa, Arizona (without a cloud in the sky). Not even a hint of a burn. No irritated skin. Slight whiteness while wearing -- but this helps you know it's still on and working! Slight tan. Mineral sunblock ingredients (titanium and zinc) help play it safe while chemical sunscreens are being scrutinized. I tried several "baby" or "kid" sunscreens (even Aveeno Baby) and they always irritated my children. Maybe not on the 1st application, but always on any additional applications after sun exposure and/or swimming - such as mid-day when we needed to reapply it. They would scream it burned! I tried this one and it's no problem. I can put this Neutrogena sensitive skin sunscreen on them anytime, any scenario, and they never get irritated or complain it burns or itches them. |
